No stone will be left unturned to deal with potential floods - Komal Mittal

Hoshiarpur - Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said that no stone will be left unturned to deal with potential floods in the district. He was speaking today while inspecting the causeway of Village Takhni, Mahingarowal Chow along Bassi Wahid and Village Bhagowal. SDM Hoshiarpur Preetinder Singh Bains was also present with him on this occasion.

He was speaking today while inspecting the causeway of Village Takhni, Mahingarowal Chow along Bassi Wahid and Village Bhagowal.  The Deputy Commissioner said that today he inspected the places where water had come last year. He said that the purpose of the visit is to carry out flood protection works in these places in a more adequate manner, so that people do not face any problem.
The Deputy Commissioner said that all adequate arrangements have been made by the district administration to deal with possible floods. Meanwhile, he directed the public works, drainage and other concerned officials to work immediately on the safety of the causeway damaged due to water. He said that while continuous efforts are being made by the district administration to provide relief to the people from possible floods, efforts are also being made to save the crops of the farmers from the flood water.
The Deputy Commissioner, while inspecting the flood protection works at Mahingarowal Chow, adjacent to village Bassi Wahid, directed the officials of the drainage department to ensure that flood water does not enter the village. All SDMs of those districts were directed to ensure adequate arrangements to deal with possible flood-like situation in their sub-divisions. He directed the concerned authorities to carry out the proposed flood prevention works with all seriousness. He asked the officials of SDMs and Drainage Department to work cooperatively.
Komal Mittal appealed to the residents of the district to take precautions and asked them to stay away from dams, rivers, canals. He also appealed to the people of the Gujjar community to keep their cattle etc. away from these areas. He said that due to the rains, the water level in the rivers and streams increases significantly. He said that it is common to see that some people bathe in ponds and rivers and do other things like taking animals to bathe and go together to watch the running water and make videos. Sometimes the unexpected happens. He directed the officials of SDMs and Drainage Departments to select the affected villages as well as carry out an immediate survey of the rivers/Dhusi dams. On this occasion, Axion Drainage Damandeep Singh, SDO Drainage Karndeep Singh and other officials were also present.
