Hoshiarpur - Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Amandeep Kaur informed that according to the instructions issued by the honorable National Green Tribunal and the Punjab Pollution Control Board, a complete ban has been imposed on the use and sale of single use plastic in the city.
He said that four teams of the Municipal Corporation have been formed to carry out this work, which are going to check in different areas of the city daily. He said that appropriate action will be taken against those who use and sell envelopes made of single use plastic as per the instructions and challans will be issued while taking action against those who use and sell single use plastic. He said that so far, about two quintals of single use plastic envelopes have been seized in the city by the formed teams and two challans have also been issued, under which a fine will also be charged from them.
The Commissioner Municipal Corporation appealed to all the residents of the city to cooperate more and more in the efforts initiated by the Municipal Corporation for the protection of the city and the environment and to contribute in keeping their city clean and hygienic.
