Nawanshahr - A seminar on “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” was organized at Red Cross De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre, Nawanshahr. It was chaired by Mrs. Rajkiran Kaur, District Social Security Officer, SBS Nagar. This seminar was conducted as per the guidelines of Indian Red Cross Society, Punjab State Branch, Chandigarh and under the leadership of Honorable Secretary Shivdular Singh Dhillon IAS Rita.

It was chaired by Mrs. Rajkiran Kaur, District Social Security Officer, SBS Nagar. This seminar was conducted as per the guidelines of Indian Red Cross Society, Punjab State Branch, Chandigarh and under the leadership of Honorable Secretary Shivdular Singh Dhillon IAS Rita.
The chief guest on this occasion was Mr. Sandeep Kumar SHO Nawanshahr. This year's theme was “The Evidence is Clear - Investing in Prevention”. In which some of the famous societies are Upkar Saheer Society Nawanshahr, Human Rights Awakening Manch Society Nawanshahr, Senior Citizen, Navjot Sahitya Sanstha Aur, Sukhmani Sahib Sewa Society Nawanshahr, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Rahon, Guru Ramdas Sewa Society Nawanshahr, Doaba Sewa Samiti Nawanshahr, Bharatiya Janata Party Special support was given by Nawanshahr, Environmental Service Society. On this occasion Mr. Sandeep Kumar SHO Nawanshahr said that the district police is making all possible efforts to stop drug addiction. He said that you can report drug dealers on the number issued by the police. He promised the people present in the seminar that we will not do drugs and will arrest the drug dealers and hand them over to the police. He said that only with the cooperation of the people, the police can curb the menace of drugs. Addressing the seminar Dr. Rajan Shastri MD Psychiatrist said that addiction is a mental disease. The youth trapped in the mire of drugs can be taken out of it by undergoing medical treatment in de-addiction centers opened by the government without any discrimination. He said that to reduce drug addiction, the supply and demand of drugs should be reduced. Patients and their parents were also given detailed information about drugs. He also gave information about drugs and explained how drug addicts are treated. Q: Chaman Singh Project Director during his speech said that this day is celebrated on June 26 every year. This year's campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of treating people who use drugs with respect and compassion. Provide evidence-based, voluntary services for all, offer alternatives to punishment, prioritize prevention, and lead with compassion. In the seminar Mrs. Rajkiran Kaur District Social Security Officer, Nawanshahr said in her address that we should boycott the drug sellers in the society. Donations should not be taken from them at religious places. We all should take it as our responsibility to educate the school children about drugs, so that they can avoid this drug addiction.
On this occasion Narinder Singh Bharta, Jaspal Singh Giddha Upkar Coordinating Society, Des Raj Bali Human Rights Awakening Forum Society Nawanshahr, SK Puri Secretary Senior Citizen Association Nawanshahr, Subhash Arora, Sukhwinder Singh Thandi, Jaswinder Singh, Hari Kishan Patwari also presented their views. . On this occasion, Mr. Sandeep Kumar SHO Nawanshahr, Rajkiran Kaur District Social Security Officer, Dr. Rajan Shastri, expert in psychology were honored. On this occasion, the Red Cross De-addiction Center presented medals of honor to the social service organizations.
