
Increase in renewable energy capacity of PSPCL
Patiala, June 25 – Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has taken an important step towards meeting the growing power demand of the state by promoting sustainable energy sources. The Corporation had signed agreements with solar power developers for purchase of 250 MW of solar power at a competitive rate of Rs 2.65/kWh in June-2022.

The Corporation had signed agreements with solar power developers for purchase of 250 MW of solar power at a competitive rate of Rs 2.65/kWh in June-2022.
Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO informed that 50 MW capacity solar power project installed by M/s SAEL Limited at Village Karamgarh, Malot has been synchronized and supply has started in Solar Power 220 KV Grid Sub-station Kalwala. Four solar power projects of 4 MW to be set up in Punjab were allotted to 'PEDA' at a rate of Rs 2.748/kWh.
Among these, a 4 MW solar power project at village Tarkhanwala, Bathinda has also been synchronized with PSPCL's 66 KV grid sub-station Sekhon. He further said that with the synchronization of these projects, the cumulative installed capacity of solar power projects for the state of Punjab has now reached 2081 MW. He also said that 2850 MW solar power projects are under commissioning.
It may be mentioned that these 54 MW solar power projects will generate about 3 lakh units of green energy per day and the solar power generated by these projects will be available during the day and will be supplied as agricultural power to the farmers of Punjab state.
The Power Minister reiterated the Punjab Government's commitment to increase the share of clean, green and low-tariff renewable electricity and provide the best quality of reliable and affordable electricity to its customers.
