Banks in Una district have distributed loans worth Rs 2801.12 crore till March 2024 - Jatin Lal

Una, June 24 - The district level bank advisory and review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal. While reviewing the achievements of the banks against the targets in the fourth quarter in the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that the banks of the district distributed loans worth Rs 2801.12 crore against the annual target of loans worth Rs 2401.56 crore by March 2024.

Una, June 24 - The district level bank advisory and review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal. While reviewing the achievements of the banks against the targets in the fourth quarter in the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that the banks of the district distributed loans worth Rs 2801.12 crore against the annual target of loans worth Rs 2401.56 crore by March 2024. The deposits of banks have increased to Rs 13874.67 crore, it has increased at an annual rate of 11.47 percent while the loan has increased at the rate of 11.59 percent to Rs 4236.65 crore. The loan deposit ratio of the district has increased to 30.54 percent in the year. The loan deposit ratio of the district is less than the national target of 60 percent. He said that banks and government departments should make every effort to improve the loan deposit ratio of banks.
The Deputy Commissioner, quoting bank officials, said that banks in the district have distributed 67407 Krishi cards to farmers till 31 March 2024 and this figure was 1311 Krishi cards in the March quarter. The agricultural loan of banks is Rs 811.92 crore which is 19.16 percent of the total loans.
The Deputy Commissioner expressed satisfaction over the achievements of banks under the annual loan scheme but termed these achievements as insufficient in the primary sector. He also asked all the banks to take necessary steps to improve their situation and increase the loan-deposit ratio. He also gave necessary guidelines to banks and government departments to follow the targets and policies set by the Government of India. He asked the banks to motivate and encourage more and more people in the district to take advantage of the loan schemes of various banks. While this step will benefit the common people and entrepreneurs, the loan-deposit ratio of the district will also improve. Along with this, he also directed to approve loan applications on time under government sponsored schemes.
In the review meeting, Punjab National Bank Chief Manager Lahri Mal said that every kind of help should be provided through banks to improve the living standards of the people. Necessary loans should be distributed to increase the income of farmers.
During this, Chief District Lead Bank Manager Gurcharan Bhatti requested the banks to achieve the targets set under the Annual Credit Plan on time so that the economic needs of the people can be met. He also stressed on distributing maximum number of Krishi Cards, providing loans for agricultural implements and encouraging promotion of small scale industries. Apart from this, all government/non-government banks should contribute their best to benefit the people under the Pradhan Mantri Social Security Insurance Scheme and also asked to include maximum number of farmers in the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
District Development Manager of NABARD, Sabrina Rajvanshi urged the members present in the meeting to form self-help groups, JLGs and new farmer clubs.
The meeting was attended by Chief Manager Punjab National Bank Piyush Kumar, District Lead Officer Reserve Bank of India Ashish Sangda, District Development Manager Sabrina Rajvanshi, RSETI Director Parul Virdi, Vinay Sharma Deputy Director Animal Husbandry Department, KK Bhardwaj Deputy Director Horticulture, Kulbhushan Dhiman Deputy Director Agriculture Department, Vivek Sharma from Fisheries Department, Jyoti Sharma DPM DRDA Una, District Coordinators of various banks and government/non-government officials.
