
Workshop on Artificial Intelligence Concludes at PU
Chandigarh June 14, 2024:- The PU-IIT Ropar Regional Accelerator for Holistic Innovations Foundation (PI-RAHI) recently concluded its two-day workshop on "Transforming Tomorrow: Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Agriculture, Health, and Ecosystem Resilience" supported by the Department of Science and Technology and Renewable Energy, Chandigarh Administration and Agri-tech collaborator iHub-Awadh@IIT Ropar. The event was conducted at Panjab University. The event, which took place on June 13 and 14, brought together experts from various fields to discuss the potential of AI in transforming these sectors.
Chandigarh June 14, 2024:- The PU-IIT Ropar Regional Accelerator for Holistic Innovations Foundation (PI-RAHI) recently concluded its two-day workshop on "Transforming Tomorrow: Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Agriculture, Health, and Ecosystem Resilience" supported by the Department of Science and Technology and Renewable Energy, Chandigarh Administration and Agri-tech collaborator iHub-Awadh@IIT Ropar. The event was conducted at Panjab University. The event, which took place on June 13 and 14, brought together experts from various fields to discuss the potential of AI in transforming these sectors.
The second day of the workshop began with a virtual session by Anvita Gupta, CEO of AINovo Biotech at Stanford University, who spoke about the revolutionary impact of generative AI on diagnostics and drug discovery for cancer and infectious diseases. The workshop also featured talks by several prominent experts, including Dr. Debnath Pal, Professor at IISc, Bangalore, who presented a case study on oral cancer and the AI model MIDAS being developed to improve data quality; Dr. Bhaskar Rajakumar, Program Director at Artpark@IISc, who discussed the role of AI in tackling dengue and the collaborative efforts of ARTPARK@IISc with the government; Nihar Desai, Program Lead at IISc, who presented on the application of NLP and LLMs in public healthcare, highlighting the work of ARMMAN and ARTPARK on building an LLM co-pilot for learning support workflows; Dr. Suresh K. Sharma, Panjab University, who shared insights on advanced statistical techniques in machine learning and AI; Dr. Mona Duggal, PGIMER, who discussed how AI is helping in screening diabetic retinopathy; Dr. Sanjay Sood, Project Director at eSanjeevani, C-DAC Mohali, who spoke about the flagship product eSanjeevani and its AI-driven healthcare delivery model; and Dr. Rajnish Kumar, IIT BHU, Visiting Scientist at Karolinska Institute, who presented on the potential of AI in healthcare.
The workshop also had founder Talk from the founder of ZippiAi, Mr. Parminder Singh Gill, COOPI-RAHI and ARTPARK@IISc have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collective collaboration on AI-powered projects. The Northern Region S&T Cluster, led by PI-RAHI, is a premier regional cluster dedicated to enhancing science, technology, and innovation across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, and Jammu & Kashmir. Its initiatives aim to amplify STI capabilities and capacities in the region.
