Aim to plant 11 lakh saplings to make Patiala district green

Patiala, June 14 - The Punjab government is running a campaign to plant saplings continuously to create a clean environment for future generations. Under which work has now been started to plant 11 lakh saplings in the district during the rainy season. In this regard, in a meeting with officials of various departments, Deputy Commissioner Shaukat Ahmed Pare said that the campaign to plant 11 lakh saplings in the district should be completed in the monsoon season.

In this regard, in a meeting with officials of various departments, Deputy Commissioner Shaukat Ahmed Pare said that the campaign to plant 11 lakh saplings in the district should be completed in the monsoon season.
He said that schools, colleges, grain markets, hospitals, village fairs and public places including around ponds should be selected for planting saplings. He said that social service organizations and school students should also be included in this campaign. Shaukat Ahmed Pare said that saplings will be planted in at least 400 panchayats of Patiala district at the rate of 1 kanal per panchayat. While every student will be made aware by the education department to plant a sapling and take care of it. He said that farmers should also be made aware of the amount given to farmers for planting saplings in their fields at the rate of Rs. 60 per plant. He said that the residents of Patiala district should also be made aware about the saplings given free of charge through the i Haryali app so that maximum saplings can be planted.
In the meeting, Forest Officer South Circle Ajit Kulkarni, ADC Madam Kanchan, Municipal Corporation Joint Commissioner Manisha Rana, SP Harwant Kaur, Forest Divisional Officer Rakesh Gulhati, HPS Lamba including all forest range officers and senior officers of all departments were also present.
