Patiala, June 13 - Last night in Sanjay Colony here, some persons attacked a youth with hammer and sticks and seriously injured him who later died at the hospital. It is said that this young man named Avtar Singh Tari was attacked by some people who were drinking in the area. The reason for the attack is said to be an old grudge. The incident took place between 11 and 12 at night, after which the police reached the spot and took possession of the body and registered a case against 25 people. The deceased and the accused are said to be old friends, who have been named together in several assault cases.

According to the incident, Avtar Singh Tari and Darshan Singh aka Baba were old friends but after a minor quarrel a few years ago, the two became enmity. Both groups used to attack each other as soon as they saw each other. Last night, Darshan Singh was sitting on the roof of his house and serving alcohol to his friends at a birthday party. Meanwhile, Avtar Singh passed through Tari Gali. Both were residents of the same area, so Darshan, under the influence of alcohol, attacked Tari. After this, all Darshan's friends assaulted Avtar Singh and severely beat him and injured him.
After this, all the accused escaped. According to the SHO of the Kotwali police station, the police have registered a case of murder against 25 persons including the main accused Darshan Singh alias Baba and Kala in this case. Both factions have criminal records.
