Patiala, June 10 - Additional District Magistrate of Patiala, Madam Kanchan, under section 144 of the Penal Code, prohibited public bathing at any place in the Bhakra Canal and other major and minor rivers/canals passing through various places within the limits of Patiala district. and has issued prohibition orders on swimming. The Additional District Magistrate has ordered to initiate legal action against the person who violates these orders.
The Additional District Magistrate said that due to the summer season, students of schools and colleges and common people, including children and youth, go to Bhakra Canal and other big and small canals of the district to bathe. He said that sometimes due to the strong flow of water, people swimming/bathing in these rivers/canals get washed away/drowning due to which a complete ban has been imposed on bathing in the canals within the limits of Patiala district. These ban orders issued by the Additional District Magistrate will remain in force till August 5.
