Nawanshahr - A drug awareness seminar was organized by Red Cross Nawanshahr De-addiction and Rehabilitation Center Nawanshahr in collaboration with Indian Council of Social Welfare OST Center Nawanshahr. It was chaired by Praveen Kumar, Project Manager, Indian Council of Social Welfare, Nawan Shahr. On this occasion, Project Director Chaman Singh addressed the patients who had gathered to take their daily dose of medicine.
 Sharing his views, he said that drug addicts need mercy. Addiction alienates a person from society and family. The mental level of the addict falls. Addiction is the root of all social evils. So avoid it. They should take advantage of the services being run by the government. He also said that there are 19 districts of Punjab which are in red zone, in which drugs are in huge quantity. He said that it is very sad that Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district is also one of them. He informed the people about the facilities and activities of the center. Project Manager Shri Praveen Kumar briefed about the Core Composite Project on IDU (Injecting Drug Users), MSM (Male to Male Sex Workers), FSW (Female Sex Workers) and OST (Oral Substitution Therapy).
He thanked Chaman Singh for visiting the OST Center and sharing valuable information about drug addiction. On this occasion, Chaman Singh Project Director Red Cross Nawanshahr, Praveen Kumar Project Manager Indian Council of Social Welfare Nawanshahr, Daljit Kaur Councillor, Satwant Singh Gill, Gurpreet Singh Jabowal, Gurpreet Kaur, ANM Babita, Nihlnan, Raju, Budh Prakash, Pawan Kumar, Dr. Kumar Bangar etc. were present.
