 On this occasion, Punjab National Bank Manager Jitinder Bansal was specially present and sanitary napkins and sanitizers were distributed to the girl students with the support of health officials. Awareness materials and refreshments were also distributed by the Health Department team. During the seminar, everyone took a pledge to create awareness about menstruation by tying a red ribbon. Addressing the seminar, Dr. Seema Garg said that "Menstrual Hygiene Day" is celebrated on May 28 every year to create awareness about menstruation and to educate girls about safe and hygienic rules. Menstruation is an issue that should be discussed openly, as it is a matter of every woman and her good health. During these days, more cleanliness should be taken care of than normal days, so that there is no possibility of any kind of infection. Menstruation is not a disease, but a natural process of internal changes in girls during adolescence, so there is nothing to worry, fear or be ashamed of, he said. Dr. Mandeep Kaur gave detailed information about the causes of menstruation, menstrual cycle and various ways to manage its flow. Refuting the misconceptions prevalent in the society regarding menstruation, he said that there is no hindrance in daily activities during menstruation. Information was given about the use of sanitary napkins during menstruation, disposal of used sanitary napkins and important measures regarding physical hygiene during menstruation. He said that during menstruation, take daily bath and wear clean clothes, keep changing pads every 4-6 hours. Along with nutritious food, green vegetables rich in iron should be consumed during menstruation so that the body does not suffer from blood deficiency. Consume fresh fruits and vegetables. Also, consume foods rich in fiber. Avoid eating too much fried and oily food.
On this occasion, Deputy Mass Media Officer Ramandeep Kaur said that we are living in the 21st century but still hesitate to discuss an important issue like menstruation.
