The General Observer visited various places including Pandoga, Ashapuri and Mehatpur Barrier to inspect the functioning of the static surveillance teams deployed there. During this period, District Election Officer, Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal remained with him.
Shyam Lal Poonia said that now only two days are left for voting. For clean, fair and fear-free elections, it is necessary that extra vigilance be exercised in this period before the elections. Be cautious about carrying cash worth more than Rs 50,000, precious jewellery, liquor and intoxicants etc. without documents. Be especially careful at border crossings. Keep a close eye on every movement and do intensive checking of vehicles. Let us tell you that 15 flying squads and 17 static monitoring teams are continuously in the field for election monitoring in Una district.
After that, the General Supervisor inspected the counting centers set up in Degree College, Una, took stock of the arrangements there and gave necessary directions to the officials. He himself closely observed all the arrangements including EVM-VVPAT strong room, barricading at the counting venue, proper security arrangements.
It is noteworthy that counting centers have been set up in Government College, Una for counting of votes for Lok Sabha elections and two assembly by-elections in Una district. There are 5 assembly wise counting centers for EVM vote counting of Lok Sabha. Apart from this, two separate counting centers have been created for the assembly by-elections of Gagret and Kutlahar.
