Chandigarh: 27th May, 2024:- Two Short Term Courses (STC), from 27th to 31st May, 2024 one on 'Recent Advances In On-Chip Optics' by department of Electronics & Communication Engineering and the other one on 'Raspberry Pi and Its Interfacing' by department of Electrical Engineering of PEC, organized by National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research (NITTTR), in collaboration with Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University)
Chandigarh: 27th May, 2024:- Two Short Term Courses (STC), from 27th to 31st May, 2024 one on 'Recent Advances In On-Chip Optics' by department of Electronics & Communication Engineering and the other one on 'Raspberry Pi and Its Interfacing' by department of Electrical Engineering of PEC, organized by National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research (NITTTR), in collaboration with Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh was inaugurated today on 27th May, 2024. Along with this, a website dedicated to the International Conference on 'Design and Manufacturing Technologies-2024' organized by the department of Mechanical Engineering in collaboration with IIT Roorkee was also launched by the dignitaries on this occasion. Chief guest of the ceremony Director of IISER, Mohali, Prof. Anil Kumar Tripathi; Prof. Apurbha K Sharma (IIT Roorkee), along with Director of PEC, Prof. (Dr.) Baldev Setia; Prof. Rintu Khanna (Head, EED), Prof. Arun Kumar Singh (Head, SRIC) and Prof. Sanjiv Kumar (Head, MED) also graced the occasion with their esteemed presence. Both of the short term courses were coordinated by our worthy coordinators, Dr. Shimi S.L. (Faculty, EED), Dr. Tejinder Singh Saggu (Faculty, EED) Dr. Jyoti Kedia (Fcaulty, ECE) and Dr. Divya Dhawan (Faculty, ECE) and Dr. Kanika Sharma (Faculty, E&CE, NITTTR), Dr. Ritula Thakur (Faculty, EED, NITTTER). This whole event is organized under the aegis of Viksit Bharat @2047 Campaign. All the members of faculty were present at this occasion.
Initially, the ceremony started out by lighting the auspicious lamp along with Saraswati Vandana and floral welcome of esteemed guests.
Afterwards, Prof. Arun Kumar Singh (Head, SRIC) shed light on the research achievements and academic activities of the ECE department of PEC. He also talked about the Semiconductor Research Center and 5g Use Case Lab working at the portals of PEC. He also briefed about the topics and session to be covered in the STC on 'Recent Advances In On-Chip Optics.'
Further, Prof. Rintu Khanna (Head, EED) gave insights into the working of the Electrical Engineering department of the institute. She also shed light on the research activities, industry-academia collaborations, academic achievements of the Electrical Engineering Department. She also introduced the learning takeaways from the STC on 'Raspberry Pi and Its Interfacing'.
Moving Further, Prof. Sanjiv Kumar delightfully briefed about the International Conference on Design and Manufacturing Technologies organized by department of Mechanical Engineering, PEC in collaboration with IIT Roorkee to be held from 8th - 11th November, 2024. He expressed his gratitude towards the esteemed Director for his unwavering support & guidance and also towards Dr. Poonam Saini and Dr. Shilpi for designing the website of the International Conference.
A short video showcasing the research and academic activities of the Mechanical department of PEC was also shown to the audience.
Afterwards, the Brochure of the International Conference was also released by the dignitaries. This International Conference on Design and Manufacturing Technologies (ICDMT-2024) would bring together experts and practitioners from the field of Mechanical Engineering ranging from design to manufacturing, with a focus on advanced materials to share their thoughts on the recent developments in the sector.
Prof. Apurbha K Sharma expressed his gratitude and delight at being here at PEC. He shed light on the department of Design and Design & Innovation Center at IIT Roorkee. He also talked the technological aspects of the design course and its benefit especially for the students in the coming future. He also shared valuable insights on the latest development and happening in this area.
Director, Prof. Baldev Setia, expressed his gratitude to be associated with this hattrick of programs. He said that, '3 Programs by 3 different departments in collaboration of 3 different Institutes under one roof today, is a sight to behold. He expressed his gratitude towards the organizers of NITTTR and IIT Roorkee. He also shed light on the glorious history and legacy of PEC. Lastly, he once again warmly welcomed the esteemed guests and participants at the portals of PEC.
Chief Guest of the day, Director of IISER, Mohali, Prof. Anil Kumar Tripathi, expressed his honor, pride and delight to be here at PEC, feeling its ambience. He said that, the foundation of high-end technologies lies in high-end science. That's why this collaboration of IISER with Technical institutes is of greater importance. This whole legacy of eminent engineering and technical people are behind the success of these courses.
Lastly, Dr. Divya Dhawan (Faculty, ECE) provided a vote of thanks and the inaugural ceremony ended on a high note.
