Una 25 May:- In view of the Lok Sabha elections-2024, to comply with the Model Code of Conduct, the General Observer of the Election Commission, senior IAS officer Shyam Lal Punia held an online meeting with the DC and SP of Una district, Ropar district of Punjab state and Hoshiarpur on Saturday and gave necessary guidelines. He directed that strict monitoring should be done at the checkpoints located on the borders of the district and information should be shared immediately by establishing mutual coordination about any suspicious and unusual situation and activity so that the subordinate district officer can take necessary action.
Punia said that to conduct free and fair elections, work with alertness and promptness. He said that now one week is left for the voting, in such a situation extra vigilance should be maintained on the borders of the state. Instruct the officers and employees posted at the checkpoints to keep a strict vigil on every movement. He instructed the district officials to remain in constant touch with each other till the voting process is completed so that immediate action can be taken on any kind of illegal activity. The number of surprise inspections should also be increased. He said that strict action should be taken against those carrying liquor, cash, precious metals etc. without necessary documents.
