Cooperate in saving forests from fire - DFO Una

Una, 20 May- DFO Una Sushil Kumar has appealed to the people of the district for active cooperation in saving the forests from fire. He urged the people to immediately inform the forest department as soon as any incident of forest fire is detected. Before setting fire to burn weeds in your haystack, inform the department about it.

He said that in the current season, there have been 37 incidents of forest fire in Una district, in which 499 hectares of forest land has been affected and there has been a loss of about Rs 5 lakh. The department is continuously working diligently to control such incidents. The fire watchers of the department are cleaning the forests so that incidents of fire outbreak can be prevented. To prevent incidents of fire spreading from roadsides, water is being sprayed from department vehicles.
He said that the department is getting full help from Una district administration. Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal has provided fire fighting kits for the departmental personnel. Which has been provided to every fire personnel in Una forest division.
Sushil Kumar said that it has been a long time since it rained this time. The extreme heat has increased the risk of forest fire incidents manifold. In such a situation, it is the common responsibility of all of us to work together to save forest wealth. He said that the department has also launched campaigns for public awareness so that the public becomes aware about saving forests and comes forward and cooperates with the department.
