
Liquor sale will be banned in Una district from May 30 till the end of voting on June 1 - Vinod Dogra
Una, 20 May- Deputy Commissioner of State Tax and Excise Department, Una, Vinod Singh Dogra said that in view of voting for Lok Sabha elections and Assembly by-elections, the sale of liquor will be completely closed in Una district from 5 pm on May 30 till the end of voting on June 1. The department has formed four task force teams for strict compliance with the dry day. At the same time, strict monitoring will also be maintained on the seven checkpoints adjacent to the state of Punjab.
Una, 20 May- Deputy Commissioner of State Tax and Excise Department, Una, Vinod Singh Dogra said that in view of voting for Lok Sabha elections and Assembly by-elections, the sale of liquor will be completely closed in Una district from 5 pm on May 30 till the end of voting on June 1. The department has formed four task force teams for strict compliance with the dry day. At the same time, strict monitoring will also be maintained on the seven checkpoints adjacent to the state of Punjab. He gave this information while presiding over the coordination meeting organized with the excise officials of Hoshiarpur and Ropar districts of Punjab state. In the meeting, a detailed discussion was held under the Model Code of Conduct and the Excise Act to ensure compliance with the dry-day law i.e. ban on sale of liquor on the day of voting.
After the meeting, Vinod Singh Dogra said that keeping the elections in mind, the excise officers of Una district and Punjab will work in mutual coordination and exchange of necessary information will be ensured. Apart from this, joint raid operations will also be conducted by both the states on illegal activities like illegal liquor production on the borders of the states.
