Patiala, May 17 - The role of first-time voters of Patiala Lok Sabha constituency is important during the Lok Sabha elections to be held on June 1 in Punjab. Understanding the importance of this, for the first time Shiromani Akali Dal candidate NK Sharma today faced the young voters of Patiala. In which the youth openly questioned Sharma and Sharma also answered them eloquently.
In Patiala, this is the first time that a contesting candidate has met first-time voters. During the program called 'Questions of Youth - Answers of NK Sharma', children from various colleges and universities of the city asked questions to the Lok Sabha candidate. Most of the children compared Patiala with Mohali and said that their city should become a smart and heritage city, when other cities of the state can make such progress, why not Patiala. When a youth asked the question of increasing debt, Sharma said that increasing income and sources of income is more important than increasing debt. For the last 7 years, Punjab's debt is increasing, but people's sources of income are not increasing. When a college student from the city asked Sharma about his vision, the Akali Dal candidate said that Patiala has immense potential for tourism. After becoming a Member of Parliament, he will develop this city as a heritage city which will increase employment opportunities for people.
A youth resident of Ghanoor lamented that Patiala is an unplanned city and what a Member of Parliament can do in it. Sharma replied that if there is coordination between MPs and district administration officials then development can be done by drawing up a master plan. The college students present in the program expressed their views about what their dream city Patiala should be like. Someone talked about the problem of pollution here, while someone raised the issue of unorganized traffic here with the MP candidate. Hundreds of students participated in this program which lasted for about two hours, 35 students also asked questions.
During an interaction with young voters, a young man asked NK Sharma why they should vote for him. Responding to this, Sharma said that you all have mobile phones. You should search on Google about the working style, functioning, character of the candidates contesting against them including them.
