Patiala, May 14 - Punjabi Sahitya Sabha Patiala organized an event at the language department regarding the need to promote Punjabi children's literature among school students.
On this occasion, Shiromani Punjabi children's literature writer and Sahitya Akademi awardee Dr. Darshan Singh Asht, who is also the president of Punjabi Sahitya Sabha Patiala, as the guest editor of the mini-magazine 'Anu' published from Ludhiana for the last 53 years, published the children's literature special issue. Presenting it, he said that in the present era, there is a great need to connect children with their mother tongue and standard children's literature because under the influence of western culture, the new generation of Punjab is getting separated from their heritage, valuable values, mother tongue and literature.
Dr Asht said that although social media has affected children a lot, the importance of children's literature written in mother tongue will never decrease and it will continue to help in raising the standard of life of children.
