Hoshiarpur - On the second day of filing nominations from Lok Sabha constituency Hoshiarpur for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, no nomination papers were filed by any candidate. Returning Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur Komal Mittal gave this information and said that till now only one independent has filed papers for Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha election.
           Giving information about the instructions of the Election Commission to the candidates, he said that during the entire election process, a candidate cannot spend more than 90 lakh rupees on his election campaign and payment of more than 20 thousand rupees can be made only through cheque. He also said that it is mandatory to enter the expenditure incurred by the candidate in the expenditure register. He also said that the model election code is applicable in the constituency, so strict compliance of the election code should be ensured.
            He said that the work of filling nominations has started from May 7, which will continue till May 14. He also informed that the nomination papers will be scrutinized on May 15 and the candidates will be able to withdraw their nomination papers till May 17. He said that voting will be held on June 1 from 7 am to 6 pm and the election process will be completed on June 6, 2024.
            He said that the holiday of Lord Parashuram Jayanti on May 10 does not come under the Negotiable Instruments Act-1881, so candidates can file their nomination papers on May 10 as well. He said that nomination papers cannot be submitted due to May 11 being the second Saturday and May 12 being a Sunday holiday.
