Addressing a press conference at the Patiala Media Club here today, General Category Welfare Political Wing President Balveer Singh Fuglana, General Secretary Jasveer Singh Gadang, Press Secretary Jagdish Singla, Avtar Singh, Ashok Chopra and Balbir Singh Kochhar said that the Lok Sabha elections are currently underway. are running And it is the responsibility of all the candidates to raise the issues of general category as well as other categories.
He said that due to reservation, general category students are not getting admission on the basis of merit. He said that in the same way, the Commission for General Category Punjab was formed by the previous Congress government in December 2021 for the general category, but its chairperson and staff have not been appointed yet. He said that in government offices more than the quota should not be given promotions. Similarly, the balance of pay commission and DA installments should be paid immediately to the employees and pensioners. In the same way, the old pension scheme should be restored.
  It was announced that the political wing and general would establish their own district war units in the entire Punjab. Units have already been established in Mohali, Hoshiarpur and Bathinda and are now being established in Patiala. He said that units related to general category businessmen will be established such as business wing, student wing and farmer wing will also be created. He said that we also demand that people from the creamy layer should be excluded from reservation and reservation should be applied to every class on economic basis whether it is general class, SC class or any class.
He also said that we also oppose the decision of the Congress party to implement reservation in private jobs as it is against the decision of the Supreme Court in the Indira Sahni case. He said that the Supreme Court has clarified that the reservation cannot be more than 50 percent but the Congress party is ready to cross this limit to strengthen its vote bank, which we strongly oppose.
