Under this program, District Election Officer-cum-Returning Officer Hoshiarpur and all Assistant Returning Officers of the district have been paired with successful young voters (boys and girls) of their respective constituencies as Youth Election Ambassadors. By appointing these young voters as Youth Election Ambassadors, they were given training regarding the entire election process and they were told in detail about the election process and the advance preparations of the elections starting from the date of announcement of the elections. Meanwhile, they were also given a visit to the Adarsh polang booth set up in Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School Railway Mandi. Along with this, they were given hands-on practice of polling process, polling booths, voting on EVMs and were made aware of the working system of VV Pat and EVM.
The Youth Election Ambassadors learned about the polling officers posted at the polling booth and their duties and understood the complete process of voting at the polling booth. After this, information was also given about the process of sealing the EVM and VVPAT machines after the polling and keeping them safe on the day of counting.
The Deputy Commissioner said that these ambassadors will make young voters aware of voting in their respective assembly constituencies. He said that the purpose of this program is to educate the young voters about the voting process as well as to make them aware of the election process, so that they can understand why we are celebrating the elections as a festival of democracy. Meanwhile, Dr. Kiranjit, District Nodal Officer of Training Management gave training to the Youth Election Ambassador through Power Point Presentation (PPT).
