Keep yourself hydrated to protect yourself from hot weather - Deputy Commissioner

Nawanshahr - Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa said that during the summer season, in order to avoid the hot winds, one should go out of the house only in the afternoon for essential work. And before going out of the house, your head should be covered, so a cloth, hat or umbrella can be used. Apart from this, light pale-colored and loose cotton clothes should be used. He said that glasses can be used to protect the eyes and any cream can be used to protect the skin during the summer season.

   The Deputy Commissioner said that one should drink more water in the summer season. If one is suffering from heart, kidney or liver disease then water should be consumed only as per medical advice. He said that radio, TV, newspaper or mobile app related to weather information can be used for information regarding weather news. He said to use ORS solution or home prepared liquids like lassi, (rice water), lemon water, coconut water etc. to keep yourself hydrated. He said that the person affected by sunstroke should use wet clothes and pour water on the head. Apart from this, the person can be given ORS or lemon water to drink.
The Deputy Commissioner said that to protect the animals from the heat, work should not be done from 11:00 am to 04:00 pm and the animals should be kept in the shade and given cold water to drink. He said that in summer, water should be sprinkled near the animals.
