Nawanshahr - Harbans Hiyo, the famous revolutionary democratic personality of the region and pillar of progressive literary activities, was cremated today in his village Hiyo. He left this world after fighting incurable kidney disease for a long time. According to his will, no religious or orthodox ceremony was performed at his funeral. His mortal remains were honored by paying floral tributes, hoisting communist flags and raising revolutionary slogans.
Family, relatives, comrades in struggle and literary activities, journalists and leaders of public organizations bid him a last farewell with tearful eyes. His son Gagandeep lit his funeral pyre.
