Giving information about this, District Child Protection Officer Kanchan Arora said that while checking, the team checked 12 school buses of seven schools. In which the buses of Cambridge Public School, KC Public School, Shiv Chand School, Tagore School, Dr Asa Nand School, Derrick International School, Guru Nanak Mission School were also included.
Out of the checked buses, 6 school buses not meeting the requirements of the Safe School Vehicle Policy were challaned and 3 school buses were also impounded. He said that under the Safe School Vehicle Policy, the height of the foot step in school buses should not be more than 220 mm. It is necessary to preserve the footage of the CC TV camera for 60 days Children should not be seated in the school bus more than the capacity It is mandatory to have a fire extinguisher in the bus If the bus is on rent then school duty banner on the bus is necessary School bus should be golden yellow color. An emergency doors is required at the front and rear of the bus. It is necessary to have a first aid box in the bus The speed governor must be fitted and if a single girl child is traveling in the school van then the school van must have a lady attendant. If anyone does not follow these rules, strict action will be taken against the school head and the driver as per the rules. The Deputy Commissioner has instructed to implement the safe school vehicle policy in the district. So that children can be ensured to reach school and home in a safe environment. The Deputy Commissioner said that basic facilities like first aid box, fire extinguisher, camera inside the bus, the color of the bus should be yellow. And the name of the school and the phone number should be written in the strip above it. Apart from this, government number plate, fitness certificate, lady attendant etc. facilities are mandatory He said that the safety of children is very important and no negligence will be used in this regard. District Child Protection Officer Kanchan Arora from Transport Department Ramandeep Singh ATO, Inderjit Singh DEO, and Shanu Rana Accountant from District Child Protection Unit, Jaswinder Pal Singh and Dilawar Singh ASI from Traffic Police were present in the checking team.
