Chandigarh 15.4.2024:-  A meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Education Secretary, Chandigarh on the implementation of “SAFE VAHAN POLICY” on 15.4.2024 at UT Guest House, Sector-6, Chandigarh which was attended by all the school heads and Principals. The Education Secretary, UT Chandigarh set the context of the meeting. He warned all School Principals of dire consequences of any violation of the Chandigarh Administration’s Safe Transportation Policy For Students (STRAPS) and made it clear that no violator shall be spared and exemplary punishment shall be given. He also directed the education department to include the School compliance of the provisions of STRAPs and any amendments thereafter as a condition precedent in the grant of Provisional recognition and NOC for CBSE affiliation by the DSE office, wherein detailed checking of the documents of the school’s transport facility be undertaken by the Department. Responsibilities of School Management, Responsibilities of STA and Traffic Police and monitoring mechanism were also discussed in the meeting. The School Principals shared their views as Schools reiterated their commitment to ensuring safety of children during commuting to schools and while returning and committed and that the STRAPS will be followed in letter and spirit.
