
The six-day All India Railway Cricket Championship has started
Patiala, April 15 – The six-day 67th All India Railway Men's Cricket Championship 2023-24 organized by Patiala Locomotive Works began with the knockout matches at the Patiala Locomotive Works (PLW) Cricket Stadium here today. Out of the 28 Indian Railways teams, eight teams have qualified for the matches to be played in the PLW.

Pramod Kumar, Principal Chief Administrative Officer (PCAO) PLW attended the event as the chief guest and inaugurated the championship. He along with other officials introduced the players of the first match between North Western Railway and Metro Railway Kolkata at the PLW Cricket Stadium. Pramod Kumar also conducted the toss Which Metro Railway won and decided to bowl first. North Western Railway posted 223 for 10 in 46.4 overs, with Surya and Anshul top-scoring with 52 off 58 balls and 42 off 46 balls respectively. Metro Railway's Amit Quila took three wickets. In reply, Metro Railway Kolkata chased down the target and scored 228 runs for five wickets to win the match by 5 wickets. Top scorer for Metro Railway was Arindam, who scored 83 runs off 119 balls and was not out. CP Jatt and Monty took 2 wickets each for North Western Railway.
In the second match between Western Railway and Eastern Railway, Western Railway set a target of 285 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs. Western Railway's Samarth and Raxley scored 87 off 71 balls and 35 off 41 balls respectively. Arijit of Eastern Railway took 3 wickets. Eastern Railway successfully chased down the target and won the match by six wickets.
