Chandigarh : 05th April, 2024: The Career Development and Guidance Centre (CDGC) at Punjab Engineering College (PEC) hosted its annual OPEN HOUSE- 2024 on the 05th of April, 2024, for students of class IX & X from senior high schools from tri-city. The event aimed at providing an opportunity for the school students to get a first-hand experience through a guided tour to different departments and state of the art facilities at PEC. The PEC researchers, faculty and students interacted with the school students and showcased their projects. Over 330 students and academicians from twelve different schools across the tri-city attended the event.

The Inaugural ceremony commenced with Saraswati Vandana and Lamp Lighting ceremony in the presence of Chief Guest – Prof. Baldev Setia(Director, PEC), Guest of Honour - Sh. Vivek Atray(Ex-IAS, Ex Director- IT Education and Co-Founder, Playwrite), Dr. Poonam Saini (Prof. In-charge, CDGC), Dr Ankit Yadav (Coordinator, CDGC), Col. R.M. Joshi (Registrar, PEC) and faculty members from different departments of PEC.

Dr. Poonam Saini, Prof. In-Charge, CDGC delivered the introductory remarks and cordially welcomed the visiting schools, and the dignitaries present in the inaugural ceremony. In her address she expounded on the institution's initiative and the expected outcomes of the Open House 2024. Prof. Baldev Setia(Director, PEC) emphasized the purpose of the event, which was to instil a scientific temperament in school students and assist them in choosing the appropriate career path. Lastly, he said that, ''Your every Innovative creation should be filled with compassion and good intentions for the Society at large.''

A video, showcasing the achievements and opportunities provided at Punjab Engineering College, was displayed for the students. Sh. Vivek Atray delivered a keynote address during the remarkable occasion and enlightened the students with his enriched experiences. He shared his insights and tips with the students for pursuing their higher education. The ceremony concluded with a short cultural Programme by PEC student’s clubs.

The event offered an exceptional opportunity for students to interact with the engineering students and get to know about projects, and laboratories including the state of the art facilities of PEC. The students shared positive feedback as they felt highly motivated and inspired after interacting with the students who showcased their projects.

In conclusion, the event proved to be a highly enlightening experience for the attendees, providing them with a platform to witness the practical implementation of Science, Engineering and Technology, cultivate a scientific bent of mind at an early stage, and facilitate the pursuit of scientific endeavors.
