Northern Region Cultural Center and Theater Forum celebrated World Theater Day

Patiala, March 28:- 63rd World Theater Day event organized by Uttari Kshetra Cultural Center and Theater Forum Patiala at Kalidas Auditorium Bhasha Bhavan. Madam Harpreet Kaur, director of language department Punjab, was the chief guest of the play, debate and honor ceremony organized on this occasion. The presiding committee included "Padma Shri" Pran Sabharwal, Senior Program Officer of Northern Region Cultural Center Ravinder Sharma, eminent social worker and art lover Bhagwan Das Gupta, Satnam Singh and Harbhajan Kaur Deputy Director Language Department and Vinod Kaushal President Theater Forum Patiala. On this occasion, the play "Koi Hai Jabab" was also staged under the direction of Joga Singh. The actors of the play played their respective roles well and the soulful voice of the playback singer Kamaljit Timmy captivated the audience. The drama based on drugs was quite successful in making an impact. Yogesh Gambhir, the former head of theater department of Punjabi University, Patiala, in his keynote speech stressed on the initiative of the government while worrying about the future of theater workers.
While the chief guest Madam Harpreet Kaur expressed her happiness over the growing popularity of theatre, she also expressed concern over the dying theater genres.
Prominent philanthropist and art lover Bhagwan Das Gupta fully appreciated the efforts made by the entire team of Punjab Theater Forum Patiala for the construction of Upan Air Theater with the support of the top officials of Language Department Punjab.
Gurnek Bhatti, Secretary General of the Forum, performed the duties of conducting the forum well. On this occasion, a group of painters and art lovers of the city were present.
