
Strengthening banks by giving maximum loans to the educated unemployed - Assistant Commissioner

Meanwhile, the Assistant Commissioner gave instructions to the banks to increase the CD ratio, so that more and more people, especially the educated youth and people from the weaker sections of the society, can raise their standard of living by getting loans and starting economic activities. The Assistant Commissioner said that a total of Rs 9128.86 crores were given as loans till December 2023 by various banks of the district under the loan scheme year 2023-24 while the target was Rs 10528.93 crores. Of this, loans of Rs. 6648.99 crore were given to preferential sector, while loans of Rs. 2479.87 crore were given to non-preferential sector. In preferential sector, Rs 3583.69 crore was given to agriculture, Rs 2774.98 crore to non-agricultural sector, Rs 290.32 crore to other preferential sector as loans.
Divya P urged banks to extend loans to as many self-help groups as possible. He also asked the banks to speed up the process of disbursing loans under agriculture and small scale industries, service sector etc. He asked the banks to give loans to as many poor people as possible, so that their economy can grow and their standard of living can be raised.
Addressing the meeting, Circle Head Punjab National Bank Sanjeev Kumar said that deposits in district Hoshiarpur, which were Rs 39993 crore in December 2022, have increased to Rs 44094 crore in December 2023. Similarly, the total loan amount given by banks, which was Rs 10773 crore in December 2022, has increased to Rs 12114 crore in December 2023. Lead District Manager Rajesh Joshi said that banks in the district have issued Kisan cards worth Rs 53.34 crore to 1874 farmers. He advised the bank officials to give maximum loans to the new entrepreneurs so that new industries can be started in the district and people can get maximum employment opportunities. He thanked the district administration for providing maximum support to the banks. Officials of Animal Husbandry Department, District Industries Centre, SRMLNULM etc. and DCOs of all banks participated in the meeting.
