Hoshiarpur, October 14: The newly renovated slabs of Garhshankar-Kot Fatuhi-Mehtiyana-Adampur Bist Doab Canal have started breaking. On this occasion, General Category Front President General Secretary Jagtar Singh Bhungrani and General Secretary Balveer Singh Fuglana issued a joint statement saying that the renovation of this canal started in October 2021. Various contracts were tendered to various contractors for the construction of the canal. But in the area of Paonta-Bhungarni-Baghana-Mehtiyana the contractors started using substandard material in the new canal. Hoshiarpur-Phagwara road was also blocked for an hour due to protests by Doaba General Category Front, Sahib Jata Baba Fateh Singh Ji Tarna Dal, Vishwa Rajput Sabha and other rival organisations. Hoshiarpur district administration officials also reached the spot and a demand letter was also given by the residents of the area. Still, not a single louse moved on the canal department. But now the slabs that were placed in the canal definitely slipped. The contractors of that time poured raw soil on both sides of the canal and poured the mixture on top. Due to the storm that hit this area recently, a tree branch fell on the Baghana bridge. Due to which the water level increased. The modern canal built by the new government and the Canal Department has been unveiled. All the residents of the area should get an impartial investigation done of this so-called modern canal. Balwinder Singh Gill, Gurdial Singh Jalwehra, Jaswinder Singh Sangha, Master Avtar Singh, Varinder Singh Bhinder Jagdev Singh Kukowal etc. were also present on this occasion.
