
Arms holders ordered to deposit their arms by March 22
Patiala, 17 – In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Additional District Magistrate Madam Kanchan has issued instructions to the firearm holders of Patiala district to deposit their licensed firearms in the local police station or licensed firearms dealers by 22nd March 2024 at 5 pm. Additional District Magistrate-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner Madam Kanchan, in exercise of the powers under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Act No. 2 of 1974) to conduct the Lok Sabha Elections in a peaceful manner, which shall remain in force till 15 May 2024.

Unilateral orders have been issued. Madam Kanchan said that in view of the Lok Sabha elections, in order to maintain law and order in the district of Patiala, to maintain peace in the interests of the people and to conduct the upcoming elections in a smooth and peaceful manner, the arms holders should deposit their arms. It is necessary so that no untoward incident takes place.
These orders issued by the Additional District Magistrate will not apply to Army Personnel, Para Military Forces, Bawardi Police Personnel and Guards in Banks.
