Chandigarh,15th March,2024. The Chandigarh Health Department has achieved unprecedented success in its recent Pulse Polio Campaign, conducted from March 3rd to 5th, 2024. The campaign aimed to immunize children aged 0-5 against polio, covering every nook and corner of the union territory. A staggering 98,132 children were vaccinated, surpassing the initial target by an impressive 109%. This feat was made possible through the dedication of 1,200 health teams and the establishment of 460 polio booths across Chandigarh. 
 In addition to the standard campaign activities, special Hepatitis B vaccination camps were organized, benefiting 240 students from Chandigarh University. These students were also trained in pulse polio vaccination techniques, enhancing the pool of volunteers for future campaigns.
 A unique initiative, the "TAARE ZAMEEN PAR - NIGHT VIGIL," further showcased Chandigarh Health Department's commitment to reaching every child. Conducted over three nights, this program targeted vulnerable populations such as nomads, beggars, and homeless children who are often missed during daytime activities. A total of 203 children were vaccinated during these night vigils. 
 The success of Chandigarh's polio initiatives has not gone unnoticed. The government of India has exempted UT Chandigarh from conducting Sub National Rounds of Pulse Polio in the future, citing the exemplary coverage and surveillance efforts of the Health Department.
