
Sri Dhanwantry Ayurvedic College and Hospital (SDACH)-Chandigarh, is organizing Symposium on Ayurinformatics from March 15-16,2024.
The theme of the symposium is ‘Ayurveda and Pharmacoinformatics driven Scientific Evidence based Solutions to Pharmaceutical Research, Healthcare and Knowledge’. The event was inaugurated at convention center at NIPER- SAS Nagar. Chief Guest, Prof Pulok K Mukherjee, Director Institute of Bioresource and sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal and Guest of Honour, Prof Tanuja Nesari, Director, All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi inaugurated the function.

The event was inaugurated at convention center at NIPER- SAS Nagar. Chief Guest, Prof Pulok K Mukherjee, Director Institute of Bioresource and sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal and Guest of Honour, Prof Tanuja Nesari, Director, All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi inaugurated the function. Prof K B Tikoo, Acting Director, and Prof Arvind Bansal, Dean, NIPER – SAS Nagar, Prof (Dr) Ramadas Maganti, Principal, SDACH- Chandigarh and convenor of the event mark their presence. Around 350 delegates attended the conference.
In the opening remarks, Prof K B Tikoo, evoked Sushrut, Father of Shalya Chikitsa or Surgery and mentioned that he, in his own unique way, started the practice of Plastic Surgery almost 4000 years ago which we in modern medicine are practicing now. He said that ancient Science of Ayurveda had all the concepts and for connecting it to the modern-day knowledge and technology, informatics can play a vital role.
Prof Sanjay Jachak, Head, Department of Natural Products on gave a brief introduction about the conference. He mentioned that it is an opportunity for all to learn the importance of informatics in science.
Prof Tanuja Nesari, Director AIIA told the audience that AIIA was the first institute in India to start bioinformatics in Ayurveda. She said that future of medicine is no medicine. Ayurveda is about knowledge and happiness. She further said that she envisions India to be World leader in health care.
Prof Pulok Mukherjee, Chief Guest of the function interacted with the audience through his lecture. He said that India is the only country in the world where we have a separate ministry to regulate traditional medicine. Also, India is the only country where Traditional medicine is promoted through well established agencies and acts like AYUSH, FSSAI, Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Phytopharmaceuticals. He closed his talk with a message ‘Let us respect our heritage on Lok Swasthya Parampara and add value to Local Health’ by integration of modern tools with ancient knowledge base.
The guests were felicitated by acting Director, Prof K B Tikoo and Prof Arvind Bansal, Dean with a plaque of appreciation. The gesture was reciprocated by Prof Tanuja Nesari, Director, AIIA. She and her team felicitated Prof Tikoo, Prof Bansal, Prof Sanjay Jachak and Prof Ramadas Maganti.
Thereafter, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was exchanged between Prof K B Tikoo on behlf of NIPER SAS Nagar and Prof Ramadas Maganti, on behalf of SDACH, Chandigarh. The MoU is on mutual collaboration on research activities.
The event culminated with National Anthem.
