On the occasion of the 40th convocation of Punjabi University, students were awarded degrees and medals

These views were expressed by the Governor of Punjab Mr. Banwari Lal Purohit during his presidential speech on the occasion of the 40th Convocation of Punjabi University.

These views were expressed by the Governor of Punjab Mr. Banwari Lal Purohit during his presidential speech on the occasion of the 40th Convocation of Punjabi University.
Congratulating the students and researchers who got PhD degrees and medals, he said that only good character can get rid of all problems. Therefore, they should pay special attention to its construction. Appreciating the Punjabi University, he said that it has increased its reach by taking the purpose of its establishment seriously. He said that the academic and intellectual aspect is a major contribution of Punjabi University.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Arvind, during his welcome speech, said that Punjabi University is now continuously moving forward by reaching milestones. He said that the previous convocation was held after a gap of six years, but now the university has gradually eliminated the process of leaving the backlog work. Referring to the financial conditions of Punjabi University, he said that the state government has increased the grant of the university from 9.5 crores per month to 30 crores per month. This has improved the financial condition of the university. He said that in October last year, the university received a grant of Rs. Punjabi University is the only university in the state to get this grant. He said that there has been an increase in university admissions last year Due to which the number of seats in some courses in the engineering sector has also had to be increased. During the convocation, Governor Mr. Banwari Lal Purohit awarded the honorary degree of D-Litt to ophthalmologist Dr. Padma Shri Prof. Amod Gupta and eminent social worker Padma Shri Vikramjit Sahni. Prof Samuel CC Ting, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics and Prof JPS Ubrai of the Punjabi literary world, will be conferred with the honorary degree of D-Litt later. Chancellor's Medal for Academics was awarded to Bindya Garg and Chancellor's Medal for Sports was awarded to Vishwajit Singh. After this, 492 researchers were awarded PhD degrees and 143 meritorious post-graduates and graduates were awarded with medals. Meanwhile, 10 donated medals were also awarded. As per the tradition of convocation, a large number of Syndicate and Senate members were also present on the stage.
