Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that this case has been registered against the said freight worker on the complaint of Baldev Singh, a resident of Kadiana village of Hoshiarpur district.
Giving details, he said that the complainant has approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged that the said patwari is asking for a bribe of Rs 30,000 in exchange for transferring his land to the neighbor and registering his death, but during the negotiation, the deal was fixed at Rs 25,000. The spokesman further said that the Vigilance Unit of Jalandhar range, investigating the allegations made in the complaint, laid a trap under which the accused Patwari was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000 Recovered. In this regard, a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the above accused employee of the Revenue Department at the Jalandhar Range police station of the Vigilance Bureau. He will be produced in court tomorrow and remand will be sought. He said that further investigation of this matter is going on.
