6th Two days course on ‘Role of Nurse Practitioner in prevention and management of Chronic NCDs

Sixth two days course on ‘Role of Nurse Practitioner in prevention and management of Chronic Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) on the theme “Nurse practitioners for chronic NCDs” will be organized by National Institute of Nursing Education, PGIMER in collaboration with World NCD Federation from 11th to 12th January, 2024.

Sixth two days course on ‘Role of Nurse Practitioner in prevention and management of Chronic Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) on the theme “Nurse practitioners for chronic NCDs” will be  organized by National Institute of Nursing Education, PGIMER in collaboration with World NCD Federation from 11th to 12th January, 2024. The course aimed at sensitizing and preparing the nurses for NCD management so that they can play a great role in prevention and management of these diseases. Dr. Sukhpal Kaur and Dr. JS Thakur are the Organizing Chairpersons of the course. Dr. Kavita and Dr. Sushma Saini are the Organising Secretaries. A total of 118 participants from Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, have already been registered for the course.
The course will be inaugurated by Prof. Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh. This is the 6th course in the series being organised by NINE in collaboration with world NCD federation and it is a continuous feature of the Institute and World NCD Federation.
Dr. Deepika Khakha, Nursing Adviser, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GOI will also be there in the panel Discussion to discuss nurse practitioner in Indian context as a representative from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GOI. She will also be chairing the session on “Task shifting for chronic NCDs”.
Other topics to be discussed in the course will be cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, hypertension, stroke, cancer and mental illnesses, multisectoral action plan, NP-NCD, and population-based screening for common NCDs.  10 CNE hours/ 2 CNE credits are allocated to the course by Indian Nursing Council vide letter no. 22-203/CNE/2023-INC(605849)  dated 01.01.2024. The course will be helpful in educating the participants on the role of nurses in management of NCDs. The sessions will be taken by experts of respective field.
