The District Magistrate has banned the entry of overloaded heavy vehicles in Nawanshahr from 7 am to 9 pm.

Nawanshahr, - District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa, using the powers under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Act-2 of 1974), ordered overloaded heavy vehicles from the city of Nawanshahr from 7 am to 9 pm. Gravel, cement, sand, soil, silage, overloaded trolleys/trucks with forks, commercial goods) are prohibited from passing/entry.

           The District Magistrate said that through the letter of Senior Police Chief Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, it has been brought to his attention that there is a lot of overloaded vehicles coming and going from Garhshankar side of the district day and night, due to which students go to school in the morning. Children staying and employees/private persons going to office have to face a lot of trouble and some accident happens daily. Therefore, section 144 CrPC regarding not allowing overloaded heavy vehicles (gravel, cement, sand, soil, saria, overloaded trolleys/trucks with forks/trucks, goods moving commercially) through the district. has been written to issue orders, so that the daily occurrence of accidents can be prevented. This order will remain in force till 07 March 2024.
