Patiala, December 27 - Rising above international boundaries and reaching out as a messiah for the needy in the country and abroad, creating new examples of public service, thanks to eminent businessman Dr. SP Singh Oberoi, one Indian and three Pakistani youths were hanged in Sharjah today. Punishment, the hope of forgiveness is certain.
These four youths were arrested in the case of the murder of another Indian youth in Sharjah from the year 2019. Among these youths are Gurpreet Singh belonging to Gurdaspur district of Indian Punjab and Rao Mohammad Adil, Rana Tabish Rashid and Adil Javed Cheema belonging to Pakistani Punjab. After the family of Gurpreet Singh of Gurdaspur district contacted the Amritsar unit of Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust, Dr SP Oberoi started pursuing this case. After two years of trial, the Sharjah court sentenced these four youths to death. After prolonged contact with the parents of the murdered youth, Dr. SP Singh Ubrai managed to convince them to accept blood money. After this agreement, in the presence of the judges in the Sharjah court, Dr. Ubrai handed over 2 lakh drams (about 46 lakh Indian rupees) to the victim's family as blood money to the wife and brother of the deceased youth and this amount was given to the honorable judge. According to the orders, by dividing into 5 parts, approval was obtained from the family of the deceased for pardoning the death sentence for the accused youths. Regarding this matter, Dr. Ubrai said that the Sharjah court has now scheduled the next hearing for 22 January 2024 to give the final decision and there is a full possibility of the release of these youths on that day. It is to be noted that according to Sharia law, if permission is given to deposit the blood money in the court after the agreement between the two parties, then it can be understood that the execution is scheduled to be forgiven. Dr. Ubrai also appealed to the youth who come to seek employment in foreign countries and especially in the Gulf countries to stay away from any type of crime. After the agreement in the Sharjah court to pardon the four youths accused of taking blood money from the death sentence, the families of the accused Indian and Pakistani youths also thanked Dr. SP Singh Ubrai and asked him to rise above political boundaries to protect the children. Said to be a life-saving angel. It may be mentioned here that since 2010, 129 persons have been freed from hanging or long sentences of up to 45 years due to the efforts of Dr. Oberoi, Head of Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust.
