SAS Nagar, December 23 - Shiromani Akali Dal Constituency Mohali Chief Sevadar Parvinder Singh Sohana has held both the Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab and the Congress party in charge of Municipal Corporation Mohali equally responsible for the corruption spread in Mohali Municipal Corporation. He said that at present Aam Aadmi Party is in government in Punjab and if this government does not take action on the allegations of corruption in the corporation then the same message will be sent to the people that this government is also in league with corrupt people.
Talking to reporters, Parvinder Singh Sohana said that former deputy mayor and current councilor Manjit Singh Sethi himself has made allegations of corruption in Mohali Municipal Corporation. He said that the former Deputy Mayor has also given a complaint to the Vigilance and Local Government Department along with the Chief Minister to take action in this regard, but no action has been taken so far. He said that in the yesterday's meeting, a Congress councilor has also accused of corruption in the municipal corporation and even said that he has proof of it. He questioned that finally what is the compulsion of the Punjab government that these complaints are not being acted upon.
He said that Municipal Corporation Mayor Amarjit Singh Jiti Sidhu has failed at every level. Mr. Sohana said that in the previous municipal corporation, when he himself was a councillor, during his time he left an FD worth crores of rupees with the municipal corporation. He said that the situation today is that all this money has been exhausted and development work is far from being done, the municipal corporation does not even have money to pay salaries to the employees.
He said that Mayor Amarjit Singh Jiti Sidhu should resign accepting his moral responsibility in this regard. He demanded that strict action should be taken against the widespread corruption in the municipal corporation. He said that if the government does not take action against the corruption spread in the municipal corporation, Shiromani Akali Dal will struggle against it and if necessary, the door of the court will also be knocked.
