This information was given by Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Simpagh Randhawa today while reviewing all the arrangements related to sub-national pulse polio campaign in the meeting of Pulse Polio District Task Force at District Administrative Complex, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.

Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa in the district task force meeting district health department, education department including Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and women and child development department, Punjab police, district transport department, ICDS, panchayat department, electricity department, municipal council and Instructing the various partners including the Indian Medical Council, he said that the role of all the partners is very important for the success of the sub-national pulse polio campaign, so they should coordinate with the District Health Department, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and cooperate from all sides. So that no child from 0 to 5 years in the district is deprived of drinking anti-polio drops. He instructed that during this campaign, all partner departments should not be negligent in their duties. He said that people should also be made aware of the Sub-National Pulse Polio campaign through awareness activities so that the target of the district can be successfully achieved. Along with this, he said that we need to be fully vigilant against polio disease.
He said that the District Health Department, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar should also ensure that all the children between zero and five years of age in the district are given anti-polio drops. No child should be deprived of polio drops during the sub-national pulse polio campaign.
On this occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr. Jaspreet Kaur said that a total of 41 monitoring teams have been formed to monitor this campaign and during this three-day campaign 138129 houses, 18 grain markets, 14 factories, 55 brick kilns and 81 high risk areas were visited. will be covered.
He said that mobile teams will administer anti-polio drops to children living in semi-urban areas, slums, small factories and transit teams will administer drops to children at bus stands, railway stations. The Civil Surgeon appealed to all the supporting departments to give full support to the Sub-National Pulse Polio Campaign to be conducted from December 10 to December 12, 2023 to administer polio drops to all children between 0 to 5 years of age by the District Health Department. So that this disease can be prevented from rearing its head again.
He said that although no case of polio has been reported in India during the last 12 years, the spread of polio virus is still continuing in our neighboring countries Pakistan and Afghanistan which may enter India as well. So this sub-national pulse polio round is very important.
Meanwhile, the surveillance medical officer of the World Health Organization Dr. Gagan Sharma also gave a detailed presentation on the current status of polio disease worldwide and in India. He also gave detailed information about AFP surveillance to all the officials and said that if a child below 15 years of age suddenly develops weakness in any limb such as leg, arm, neck weakness or paralysis in the last 6 months. If killed, he should be reported immediately. On this occasion, he also explained the importance of Measles and Rubella vaccination and the goals achieved.
