Patiala, November 20 - The Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development organized a district level event today at Patiala under the campaign "Our Elders, Our Pride". On this occasion, where diseases related to old age were checked for free and spectacles were provided free of charge, medicine was also provided to the elderly during this camp.

On this occasion, eminent personalities above 60 years of age as well as those who have taken efforts for the maintenance of the elderly were also honoured.
Addressing the function, District Social Security Officer Virinder Singh Bains said that the Punjab government is fully committed to the welfare of the elderly. He said that under the same commitment, for the first time under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan, the government has organized special camps for health check-up, pension registration and other facilities for the elderly.
He said that Social Security Department Cabinet Minister Dr. Under the leadership of Baljit Kaur, he is continuously making efforts to help the elderly in every possible way. On this occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr. Raminder Kaur shared information about the schemes being run by the health department.
During the event, Dr. Swetha shed light on physical and mental problems in old age and shared information with the audience about the importance of whole grains including Ayurveda. Dr. Rajdeep Kaur about eliminating diseases from the root with homeopathic medicines and Dr. Amardeep Singh shared information about bone diseases. On this occasion, the District Nodal Officer of Sweep, Savinder Singh Rekhi, made the elders aware of their right to vote.
During the special medical camp organized on the occasion, free check-up of age-related diseases and free spectacles were provided for the eyes. Medicines were also provided free of cost to the elderly who came during the camp. On this occasion, eminent personalities above 60 years of age as well as those who took efforts for the maintenance of the elderly were also honored. On this occasion, a large number of senior citizens including Sanjh Global Foundation, Mata Khivi Birdh Ashram, Birdh Ashram Chaura benefited from this camp.
