Harchand Singh Burst has said that the arrival and purchase of paddy in the mandis of Punjab is going on vigorously and adequate arrangements have been made in the mandis so that the farmers who bring their crops do not face any kind of problem.

While reviewing the procurement arrangements in mandis, he said that the Punjab government is taking care of the farmers in all aspects and proper arrangements have been made for the purchase of paddy in all the grain markets and seasonal procurement centres. Farmers who arrived with paddy in the markets will buy the grain of the crop. He said that farmers are not facing any kind of problem during the lifting and payment of the purchased paddy. The procurement, lifting and payment of the crops to the farmers is going on. He said that despite bad weather, unseasonal rains and floods, there has not been much reduction in paddy production this year.

S. Burst said that till now 174.80 lakh metric tons of paddy crop has been received in 1854 fixed markets and 623 notified RG markets of Punjab Mandi Board, in which 171.02 lakh metric tons of paddy crop has been purchased and 3.78 lakh metric tons The purchase of the crop is pending. He said that till now 144.35 lakh metric tons of paddy crop has been lifted from the markets, while 26.67 lakh metric tons of paddy is pending. He said that 2.29 lakh metric tons of paddy had arrived in the markets yesterday and 2.59 lakh metric tons had been purchased. He said that biometric machines have been started in 760 mandis and so far 1,23,8,59 entries have been made through biometric.
