This was revealed by Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni at village Badanpur on the Samana-Chika road at Goyal Bricks Traders and SPS which manufactures biomass pellets from straw. The Deputy Commissioner said that according to the instructions of the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, it has been made mandatory to use 20 percent biomass pellets of straw along with coal in brick kilns for environmental protection. He said that these pellets are very successful because he himself has inspected this brick kiln and found that straw pellets burn better than coal with complete success. The quality of brick made here is also very good. Sakshi Sahni said that the cost of pellets is Rs 9 as compared to Rs 15 of coal and it is also environment friendly as it also solves the problem of stubble storage of our farmers. He invited all the kiln owners to visit this model brick kiln at Badanpur once and check the pellet fuel and use it in their kilns.
On this occasion, kiln owners Rajeev Shanti, Munish Kumar and Ajay Kumar informed the deputy commissioner about the complete performance of the kiln and said that this project is running successfully and the cost has also been reduced along with the permanent solution of straw.
