It is mandatory to take permission for setting up firecracker shops - SDM
Una 2 November - In order to maintain law and traffic order in Una city on the occasion of Diwali, SDM Una Vishwamohan Dev Chauhan held a meeting with officials of various departments.
SDM directed the officials of MC Una, Santoshgarh and Mehatpur-Basdehra not to allow all the traders under their jurisdiction to encroach in front of their shops. If any businessman is found encroaching in front of his shop, then action should be taken against him as per rules. He said that the police department should ensure that unauthorized vehicles are not parked from Red Light Chowk, Old Bus Stand towards Hamirpur Road so that there is no inconvenience to the general public in traffic.
Marked place for sale of firecrackers
He said that places have been identified for the sale of firecrackers in MC Una, Mehatpur-Basdehra and Santoshgarh. Ramlila ground Una under Municipal Council Una, ground in front of MC office Mehatpur under Municipal Council Mehatpur-Basdehra and Ram Leela Maidan Santoshgarh under Municipal Council Santoshgarh have been identified for the sale of firecrackers.
SDM issued instructions regarding green firecrackers
The SDM said that green firecrackers should be kept in sheds made of non-flammable material. For the sale of green crackers, it is mandatory to have sheds at a distance of at least three meters from each other. The sheds should not be facing each other. Oil burning lamps and gas lamps will not be used within the safety distance in the shed. The switches in each shop should be adjacent to the wall and there should also be a master switch for each row of shed. To deal with any incident of fire, it is necessary to have adequate water available in the shop/stall and a fire extinguisher and buckets filled with sand. He said that no person will be allowed to stock and sell green crackers without obtaining a license from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of the concerned jurisdiction for setting up a fire crackers stall.
On this occasion, Tehsildar Hussan Chand, BDO KL Verma, Naib Tehsildar Mehatpur-Basdehra Iqbal Singh, State President Vyapar Mandal SK Sharma, SHO Una Man Singh, Executive Officer Mehatpur Varsha Chaudhary and other officers and employees were present.
