Una, October 30 - Director and Conservator of Fisheries, Himachal Pradesh, Vivek Chandel visited the carp farm located at Deoli in district Una and took a detailed overview of the fishery activities carried out at the farm.

Una, October 30 - Director and Conservator of Fisheries, Himachal Pradesh, Vivek Chandel visited the carp farm located at Deoli in district Una and took a detailed overview of the fishery activities carried out at the farm. During this, Assistant Director Fisheries Una Vivek Sharma and Senior Fisheries Officer Gagret Ram Singh were present.
Assistant Director Fisheries, Una Vivek Sharma gave information about the fish breeding activities carried out at the farm. He said that six types of fish are being bred at the carp farm, which include three species of Indian Major Carp, Rohu, Katla, Mrigal, Common Carp and Amur Carp. Apart from this, Koi Carp fish is also being bred as an ornamental fish.
Apart from this, Director Vivek Chandel also inspected the Chinese hatchery and FRP hatchery located on the farm. He said that departmental fish seed farms are a very important link to connect fish farmers with fish production and fish farming, and it is the responsibility and duty of the department to provide high quality seeds to all fish farmers. If high quality seeds are available on the farms of fish farmers then only their inclination towards fish farming will increase and the target of higher production can be achieved. Vivek Chandel said that in the coming time, all the deficiencies in infrastructure related to fish breeding on the farm will be eliminated. This farm will be run with full efficiency. He inspected the feed mill installed on the farm and took stock of the prepared fish feed. During this, he asked to follow all the established rules for preparing fish feed and to make completely balanced and clean feed for fishes and to make it available to the farmers at low rates. He said that completely balanced, clean and nutritious fish food is a very important link for fish breeding and fish production. Director Vivek Chandel said that Una district has the potential to become the leading district in carp fisheries. All necessary steps should be taken in this regard and carp fish production should be promoted in Una district.
After this, he took stock of the construction related activities taking place on the farm and also inspected the Center of Excellence to be established on the farm and the Inspection Hut established on the farm. He said that every effort should be made to develop this farm as a model farm. During this, he assured that in the coming time, efforts will be made to overcome the shortage of staff at the farm.
Apart from this, Assistant Director Matsya Una also gave detailed information to the Director about the developmental activities being carried out in Una district.
