Nawanshahr - District Magistrate Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa has banned the bathing of people in the Sutlej river and Bist Doab canal under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 (Act-2 of 1974) keeping the public interest in mind. According to the District Magistrate, these steps have been taken to prevent the loss of precious lives of many families due to accidents that happen while bathing. He said that police action will be taken against those who violate these orders. These orders will remain in force till February 19, 2024.
