During the welcome ceremony to the beat of drums, the families of the winners and other sports lovers loaded them with flower garlands and distributed a lot of sweets. On this occasion, Association Chairman Ashwani Jaitak, who accompanied the players as team manager, said that the Indian athletes team of 31 members has won 27 medals for India. In which four athletes from Himachal Pradesh were successful in winning seven medals. He said that Indian athletes have brought glory to India at the international level by performing brilliantly. He also inspired the youth to move forward by learning from these players. Om Prakash Sharma, a 74-year-old former teacher who won the silver medal in the 1500 meter running competition, said that he joined the field at the age of 40. From here, on the basis of his regular practice, he won medals for the country in many national and international competitions. He said that his aim is to teach the art of living to all the people above 40 years of age, so that they can remain healthy and the youth can take inspiration from him and move towards living a healthy life by giving up drugs. Government Primary School Jarnail Singh, 54, who is serving as a primary teacher in Uttar Pradesh, won the bronze medal in javelin throw. He told that he joined sports after the age of 40 and worked tirelessly and participated in many competitions. Today, he is feeling very good after winning a bronze medal for the country in an international level competition. He called upon the youth to give up drug addiction and participate in sports activities regularly to lead a healthy life. 66-year-old retired college professor Ajit Singh Thakur, who won bronze medals in 1500 meters and 3000 meters race competitions, said that he had never participated in any sports competition from his youth till his retirement. After retirement, he started training for running competitions, taking inspiration from the master athletes of the country. In February this year, he participated in domestic master athletics for the first time. Due to his victory in which he was selected for the international level competition. In which he has won bronze medals in 3000 meter and 1500 meter race competitions. He said that the secret of living a healthy life after reaching old age lies in sports activities only.
