
Lakhimpur Khiri violence: Supreme Court clears SIA after completing probe and filing charge sheet
New Delhi, September 18 Supreme Court relieved the special investigation team investigating the Lakhimpur-Khiri violence case saying that it has completed the investigation and filed the charge sheet in the lower court.
New Delhi, September 18 Supreme Court relieved the special investigation team investigating the Lakhimpur-Khiri violence case saying that it has completed the investigation and filed the charge sheet in the lower court. The case relates to the violence of October 3, 2021, in which eight persons, including four farmers, were killed in Tikuniya of Lakhimpur-Khiri district. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Dipankar Dutta said that if the need for reorganization of JSIT is felt, appropriate orders will be given in this regard. The Supreme Court had appointed Rakesh Kumar Jain, a former judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, to supervise the investigation of the case by the Uttar Pradesh Police SIT on a day-to-day basis.
