Chandigarh, September 14 Punjab Roadways/Punbus/P. R. T. C Contract Workers Union Punjab staged an effigy protest at the gate of Chandigarh depot in protest against the government not implementing the demands accepted by the department and running away from today's meeting in a series of protests across Punjab.

Speaking on this occasion, Depot President Harvinder Singh said that the Punjab government is proving to be a failure in running the transport department. He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has run away from the meeting by giving the meeting time to the union 3 to 4 times, while he has held 15 to 16 meetings with the officials of the personnel department and State Transport Secretary and Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar.

He said that during the previous government, due to the struggle of the employees, 30 percent salary increase and 5 percent increase every year was implemented, but the current government and officials are not implementing it for a year and are sitting idly by. In the same way, the decision to restore the furloughed employees is not being implemented and by deliberately not implementing the agreed demands, the employees are being forced to struggle.

He said that a meeting with the Chief Minister was first scheduled on August 25 and then on September 14, but this meeting has been postponed to September 29. He said that around 1064 Panbuses and PRTC government buses have been used by the present government for the Amritsar rally yesterday and raw employees are remembered only when transporting people to political rallies. But the government does not have any time for these employees to resolve their demands, the government does not want to resolve any issue and deliberately runs away from the meetings and wants to go on strike.

Depot President Pavitar Singh, Secretary Gurwinder Singh also addressed on this occasion. The leaders announced that if the government and the management did not implement 5 increments every year on all raw workers and 2500 and 30 percent increments on low-wage workers and did not restore the employees and blacklisted workers by amending the conditions, then they would strike on the 20th. They will jam the wheels of Panbus and PRTC and a fierce struggle will be waged.
