Samana September 11 (Harjinder Singh) Farmers' organizations active in Samana-Patdar area in front of the office of Cabinet Minister of Punjab Government Chetan Singh Jokamajra today in front of the office of Punjab Government Cabinet Minister Chetan Singh Jokamajra to provide adequate compensation to the people affected by the floods. A three-day sit-in was started.
       Addressing this protest, Buta Singh Shadipur, president of Bharatiya Kisan Union Shadipur, Harbhajan Singh Buttar of Krantikari Kisan Union, Raminder Singh Patiala of Kirti Kisan Union, Kull Hind Kisan Union Sabha Kulwant Singh Molviwala, Daljit Singh Chak of Bharatiya Kisan Union Lakhowal. While demanding the central government to declare the widespread damage caused by floods as a national calamity and give a special relief package of ten thousand crore rupees to Punjab, it also demanded adequate compensation from the Punjab government led by the Aam Aadmi Party. The farmers' leaders demanded relaxation in the rules of giving compensation for the loss of life and dignity of the people and said that the people should be compensated according to the actual loss.
    He said that the farmers whose entire crop was destroyed and the crisis is still looming over the sowing of the next crop will be given one lakh rupees per acre, Rs. One thousand rupees per acre, 10 lakh rupees for dead family members, 1 lakh rupees per animal for dead animals, five lakh rupees for damaged houses were demanded. Similarly, the farmers whose boreholes have fallen or whose fields have been filled with silt or sand should be given special compensation in proportion to the damage done, along with discounts in soil removal. On this occasion Harbans Singh Dadhera, Gurjinder Singh Kala Gajjumajra, Gurbinder Singh Sandhu, Shinder Singh Cheema, Nirmal Singh, Sarjit Singh Gandhi, Beant Singh, besides a large number of farmers leaders were present.
